Baltimore Museum of Art Wedding: Patti + Taylor

When I asked Patti what attracted her to Taylor, she told me, “He is kind.” It was as much an understatement as saying that Patti is joyful and open. Thankfully, they have the rest of their lives to elaborate on each other’s gifts. When photographing Patti and Taylor, I wanted to show how grateful they both were to have found each other. And there was another relationship that factored into this marriage, the one between Taylor and Patti’s daughter, Avery. I was happy to have caught the moment when Taylor gave her the necklace after the ceremony. Of course, that little girl factored “hugely” in the evening, and as a father of two young girls, I’m the perfect romantic to show off Avery’s part in the whole day.

Back to Patti and Taylor, I sought to communicate the warmth I saw between those two, and among all their family and friends who were there. Gertrudes at the BMA gave their group a nice, intimate setting that I think reflected the close-knit affection among everyone. Patti and Taylor walked out into the ceremony at the day’s last light and said their vows under a blue sky. I have Ingrid, my second photographer, to thank for those lovely behind-the-chuppah photos of the couple. I found a way to incorporate the evening, and the water fountain sculpture, with Patti and Taylor. Guests ate, and they danced. Basically, a beautiful wedding.
